Our story

Phab is a national organization that inspires and supports children, young people and adults with and without disabilities to make more of life together – breaking down community barriers, reducing social isolation, and creating opportunities for disabled people to enjoy the same activities and challenges as, and alongside, those without a disability.

Local Phab Clubs

Over 170 Phab Clubs across England and Wales, with 8,000 members, enable children, young people and adults with disabilities to get together with friends and family for all kinds of activities and social events.

Run by local volunteers, Phab Clubs can make a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities and their families too.  Regional and national events organised by Phab bring local Clubs and Members together to share experiences, support each other and enjoy time away together.

Phab in the Torbay area has been in existence for many years. It is well known and respected as a vibrant club.

In late 2017 the club managed to obtain 3 years funding from Children in Need which enabled it to do wonderful things for its club members and expand into new opportunities.

Then in January 2020, Phab Club Torquay became a stand alone charity in it’s own right. We still held a close relationship and affiliation to the national Phab Charity.

We were then taken over by another youth group in Devon with the promise of many years of support and funding to come!

One year later and Phab was told that it would be closing permanently just before Christmas 2022!

Thankfully, thanks to the amazing club members, volunteers, parents and Mark the new Phab Club Torbay opened again on 30 January 2023.

We rose like a phoenix!

The club is run by many volunteers, mentors and parents, all of whom are passionate about maintaining the club as a well respected place for young people to enjoy every week.

These volunteers include club members who have been with the club for a number of years and have expressed an interest in taking on the responsibility of helping out on club nights both with the main Monday night club and also the Junior club on Wednesdays.

The club runs on 2 nights a week (during term times).

Mondays – 7pm – 9pm – For ages 14 upwards

Wednesdays – 6.30 – 8pm – For ages 8 – 16

Cost per evening – £4

We also have a Tuck shop at the club on both nights

Club nights are subject to change to fit in trips and additional activities.

On the last Monday in every month we have a late night for 18 years and over – 9pm – 10pm at the Prince of Orange pub!
